NV+ Unable to perform Boot Recovery
I have followed the instructions for carrying out a boot recovery, I've tried several different USB keys but I'm unable to recover the OS.
My problem is disk lights 1 & 3, if I follow the instructions it never gets as far as the flashing disk lights, its as if the power button is being ignored. I only ever get the two lights after about 2 seconds.
I have two questions:
1. Is there anything else I can try?
2. If I buy a replacement unit can I simply move the disks to the new unit without losing data?

Re: NV+ Unable to perform Boot Recovery
I've had it for about 3 years, maybe more, yes it's the v1 silver chassis.

Re: NV+ Unable to perform Boot Recovery
Then it's probably out of warranty.
Are you using the stock 256MB RAM module?
Have you tried an older USB Boot Recovery image e.g. the one for 4.1.8?
You could migrate disks to another v1: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another

Re: NV+ Unable to perform Boot Recovery
I have upgraded the RAM to 1GB, I've just tried an earlier firmware recovery image 4.1.8 and the results are the same.
I've timed how long it is before the two lights appear and it's closer to 5 seconds, if that is relevant.

Re: NV+ Unable to perform Boot Recovery
Can you try putting the stock 256MB RAM module back in the NAS and see if that makes a difference?

Re: NV+ Unable to perform Boot Recovery
Update!
I managed to find an old laptop with some DDR memory in it, plugged it in and now it is booting fine. Thanks ever so much for your help.
