As of a couple days ago my NV+ had 4 Seagate 750GB drive in an X-Raid. Over the past couple days I've been replacing these with 2TB WD Reds. The first 3 when in, initialized and copied data without problem. The 4th drive did get initialized but at some point during the data copy I received a Kernel Panic on the LCD screen. The unit was unresponsive and so I removed the power to the unit and then restarted. I let it reboot and it came up with the "Booting - FS Check 0.1%", so I left it and went to bed. It has not been about 12 hours and the LCD screen remains the exact same. It is possible to PING the unit but the web interface is not available.
I'm looking for what steps I should take at the point. Unfortunately I'm not confident which 750GB drives were in which slots (really should have labeled them I guess). The current status is as described above, and LEDs 1,2,3 are on solid, 4 is blinking, Act is Off and the power is doing a quick pulsing fade in and out.
So got everything working from the looks of it. Here is what I did just in case anyone else comes across this.
I pulled the plug on the ReadyNAS again and restarted and held down the power button until the LCD stated it was going to skip the File System check. This still froze while booting so I had to pull the plug again.
This time I removed drive 4 which I suspected something was wrong with and booted to skip the FS check. The system booted up fine. I took a backup of the configuration and got some of the critical files off and reinserted drive 4 again. It started resyncing the data again and a few hours later I have a fully redundant raid again. I did note that at one point I seemed to lose access to the web interface for a little bit. After a bit I opened RAIDar and it found the NAS and seemed to give me access again at the same time.
