NV+ smart error issue
Guys
I had a smart error come up on disk 2 of my NV+ the other day, so I replaced the drive with a new WD red 1TB. As soon as the raid had rebuilt, disk 1 had the same error. I then changed that to a new wd red 1tb, and today I have disk 4 saying the same thing. Is this normal when using different hardrives? Is my NV+ on it's way out? Should I just replace the other 2 drives? It seems that, to replace all of the drives, I might as well look at a new NAS long term!
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Re: NV+ smart error issue
What brand and model disks and what SMART errors?
Note that the resync from replacing a disk puts all disks under heavy stress.

Re: NV+ smart error issue
MDGM, the old disks are seagate, but I am at work , so can't give the exact model. They were in the compatible list of drives for the device
The new drives are WD red 1tb drives
The smart errors are Reallocated sector count has increased in the last day

Re: NV+ smart error issue
How much did the count increase by and what was the total count for each disk?

Re: NV+ smart error issue
I cannot say as I am at work and i stupidly deleted the emails. I know that disk 1, the second to go, increased rapidly, by a couple of thousand over night. The annoying thing is if i try to move the data to my second nv+, it works for a bit then the whole thing crashes until i force a reboot, or replace the drive that has the errors.

Re: NV+ smart error issue
a couple of thousand is huge. You can attempt to clone the failed disks onto the new drives, but it is likely there will be some data loss/corruption.

Re: NV+ smart error issue
Since the second drive went in, I haven't seen any issues (touch wood), so here's hoping tat the errors on disk 4 were just a few normal errors.
Thanks all for your feedback on this, much appreciated
