Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
I started getting the error " Windows cannot access" a few weeks ago and I couldn't log in to the web interface so I did an OS install to set the admin password back to factory. Is there any way to get the data back?
The drives are healthy.

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
ReadyNAS Network Storage: Official NETGEAR Community
You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
Just another user with a set of boilerplate macros.

Did you do an OS reinstall? Or did you do a factory default?
The OS reinstall should not have affected your data. The factory default would have reformatted the drives. It's conceivable that RAID recovery software that supports BTRFS might be able to recover something - not sure.

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
I reinstalled the drives and selected the LOGS button from the SYSTEM tab. Nothing came up. See attached.

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
Does the volume tab show one or more inactive volumes? Or does it show something else?

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
So one potentially failing disk at least. Those ATA errors might be masking the issue with the volume, but I suspect it is inactive (can't be mounted because it is out of sync)..
If you download the log zip file, I could take a look - or you can ask the mods ( @Marc_V and @JeraldM ) to analyze them if you prefer.
You'd need to put the zip file in cloud storage, and send a download link in a PM (private message). You send a PM using the envelope link in the upper right hand corner of the forum page. Don't post the link publicly, as there is some privacy leakage when you do that.
Alternatively, just try ReclaiMe - you should be able to download it for free, and see what it finds. You'd need to purchase to recover, and you will need storage to copy the files onto.

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
I tried to download the LOG files before in a previous message but there was nothing listed in them - see attached. I have all 4 disks attached to an HP ProLiant and running the ReclaiMe software and it has passed several screens but has been on SAMPLING: 1st PASS for a while (3 hours). I can hear DISK 2 clicking as it's checking it and I guess that's the hold up.
Someone said in a previous post that I may not need to use ReclaiMe on the drives that there may be another way to get the data back.
Thanks for all your help

FWIW, it might have been useful to click on "download logs" anyway.

Maybe try removing disk 2, and seeing if that speeds things up.

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
I disconnected DISK 2 and it did speed up the process but I got this error (See attched). I was pretty sure that it was RAID 5 but this seems like it wasn't.

I'm a bit confused on DISK 2, since the screenshot says DISK 3 is not selected.
If you have (or purchase) another 3 TB drive, you could try cloning the disk - using software that does sector by sector copying. There are several free packages that will work. That likely will take a while, and could result in the disk totally failing. But cloning is often less stressful than the RAID Recovery.

Re: Netgear ReadyNAS 104 says NO VOLUMNS EXISTS
I numbered the drives as I took them out of the ReadyNAS and it was DISK 2. I guess it's is showing up in the ReclaiMe software as DISK 3 because of how they were connected to the SATA bus.

Ok.
Taking the error message at face value: Cloning the clicking disk is probably the best option - hopefully it won't fail while you are doing that.
Note that if you are running RAID-0, then removing any disk would have produced this error very quickly. So while the evidence points to disk 2 (disks aren't supposed to click), it is conceivable that errors on another disk are actually creating the problem.
