Netgear ReadyNAS power up issue

Have had a Netgear ReadyNAS (RND-2A) running for years. Over time I had to replace the PSU once when it wouldn't start and that resolved the issue.

Earlier this week it wouldn't power on. Replaced the PSU, nothing. Tried booting without drives in, still nothing.

Opened it up to see if I got any LED's when connected to power, still nothing.

Anyone have any additional suggestions?

And if its dead I have 2 add'l questions.....

1. Whats a good replacement for it

2. How can I recover the data on those drives? I had them as mirror's of each other so each one has the exact same data, just would need to recover it and copy it to either a new NAS, or to an external drive as a backup until I get another NAS.

Were you running 4.2.x firmware?  Or had you converted the NAS to run OS-6?

Netgear is clearly exiting their ReadyNAS business - all of the various models are now end-of-life.

If I were looking for a new turnkey NAS now, I'd start with

• Asustor
• QNAP
• Synology

These are not in preference order - and I don't own any - so this is just a starting point.

I'd also consider getting a USB-C or Thunderbolt enclosure, and connect that to an always-on PC.

I’m pretty sure I’d upgraded to OS6 a year or so back.

Thanks for the suggestions. Someone recommended the HP MicroServer line, something like the Gen8, Gen10 Plus (v2)

OS-6 uses the BTRFS file system.  You can manually mount the data volume in a linux system that has both MDADM and BTRFS installed.

The other option is to use data recovery software that supports BTRFS - for example ReclaiMe

A used replacement ReadyNAS is also at least a temporary  solution.  Since you were running OS6, you can use a legacy NAS upgraded to OS6 or a native OS6 NAS.  Note that your current caddies will fit in either (except rack mount models) -- which is good since a lot of used ones sell without them. (The opposite is not true, BTW.)  Your PSU will also work with any 2-bay ReadyNAS.
