New Drive issue

Disk 1 was showing up as degraded, so I assumed the HDD was bad and replaced it. When I replaced it, it is now saying that  Disk 2 is inactive and should be removed and Disk 1 volume is degraded. I just want them to run redudant. Thanks

Re: New Drive issue

disk drive is never reported as degraded, only the volume can be degraded.  That message means that the volume has lost it's redundancy.  You then need to sort out why before you replace a disk.

What firmware are you running?

If you are using XRAID, then power down your system, and restore the original disk 1 in slot 1.  Remove the drive in slot 2 (leaving it empty).

Then power up the system and confirm that your data is present.  Then you can hot-insert your newly purchased disk into slot 2.  You likely will need to format it on the volumes tab before the NAS will add it to the array.

Re: New Drive issue

Ended up doing a factory reset because I could not figure out why it was degraded... Thanks
