New NAS with old discs

Hi Guys

I have a problem. My NAS was faulty and i've became a new one over warranty.
I've taken my old discs because there are very importand data on it.

Now i have the problem that my new NAS was delivered with default settings and i changed my old one to raid 0.
The default settin is raid 1. Now if i change the raid, it will format my discs. Is there a possibility to change the raid without format my discs?
I need the old data, and i haven't a backup.

sorry for my english, it's not my native language 😉

I hope you can help me.

Greetings,
Lukas

Edit: I've a ReadyNas Ultra 2

Re: New NAS with old discs

The OS, data, settings etc. are stored on the disks.

So your replacement unit came with disks in it?

Re: New NAS with old discs

No, but i put one in it which i used for first installation...
i think my problem is solved then. if i can only put my old disk in it an it works, then it's all ok
i have to test it when i'm back home from work

Thanks for your reply.

Greetings,
Lukas

Re: New NAS with old discs

I would suggest while you have installed the disk you put in for first installation that you check to make sure that the NAS is running at least as new firmware as what your dead unit was running. If it's running older firmware please update the firmware (be sure to reboot when prompted). Then power down, remove that disk and put it aside.

You can migrate your disks across from your dead Ultra following the instructions here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another
