New ReadyNas using existing full drives?
Hi,
I just bought a Readynas 102 because my old Readynas NV+ blew up (literraly).
The drives are still fine, so i wa hopeing to use them in the 102, since the drives are compatible and i dont want to lose the data on them.
So i plugged in the 102, put in the drives... and nothing.
I see the 102 in the Raidar, but i cant connect to it (webinterface) and don't see it anywhere else (network).
I dont see any other option to connect to it.....
am i doing somethign wrong or is this not possible??

Re: New ReadyNas using existing full drives?
Different RAID format, so it won't work.
We do have a procedure to recover data though assuming your array is fine.
How many disks did you have in the NV+?
Do you have somewhere to backup the data to?
Do you have a spare drive (not from your array) that you can wipe?

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.

Re: New ReadyNas using existing full drives?
2 disks, which i presume are fine, though i cant be 100% sure since the NV+ just said POOF and went the way of the dodo.
I have no spare disks, only my harddrive in my PC.

Re: New ReadyNas using existing full drives?
When did you purchase your NV+? Is it still under warranty?
Well power off the 102 and remove the disks from the NV+, buy a new disk to put in the 102 and something to backup your data to.

Re: New ReadyNas using existing full drives?
According to your registration you purchased it in October 2011. The unit had a 3 year warranty back then, so it should still be under warranty if that date is accurate.
If you can open a support case (via the email link on this page: http://support.netgear.com/general/contact/default.aspx) and provide proof of purchase you may be able to get an RMA for the NV+.
if the array comes back up in the NV+ then you could put new disks in the 102 and copy the data over across your network.
