New content added not showing up on tv's on a network.
Hi all, My issue that has developed recently is that current content on the readynas is viewable on all my tv's networked. I can transfer new files into existing folders and they show up no problems and I can watch the videos.
But when I now create a new folder in Windows Explorer and add the same new video files like a new tv series, they do not show up on the tv's, not even a new empty folder.
I have firmware RAIDiator 4.2.30 running on the Readynas Ultra 2 plus.

Do they show up if you manually rescan?

Hi, No, even after initiating a rescan the newly created folder or content doesn't show up when viewing from the tv.

Re: New content added not showing up on tv's on a network.
It's possible that a corrupted media file is causing the scan to crash.
There is a debug-toggle addon that you could try, which would put more information into the logs. The download is here: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/x86/4.2/ReadyDLNA_1.1.4-x86.bin
It has no UI - to remove it you install it a second time.
BTW, there is another add-on which moves the DLNA cache to the C volume. If you never installed that, you should. The cache can sometimes fill the OS partition (or use up it's inodes). That one is here: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/x86/4.2/Toggle_ReadyDLNA_CacheDir_1.0-x86.bin

Yes. They have no UI, so they likely will be invisible after install.

Re: New content added not showing up on tv's on a network.
Ok So I installed both of those. But now I cannot login through the webpage, it now only partial loads with not all details and I cannot see 75% of my video content through WIndows Explorer. Only a few folders show up. Have I lost access to most of my content???? How do I get it back?

Update, I have been able to log back in but It's like most of my files have disappeared. Some of the folders that I can still browse don't have all of their content either.

Re: New content added not showing up on tv's on a network.
I can now only see 5 folders out of nearly 20 that I had, and the ones that are visible aren't complete. I had tv show folders then each season under that with the relevant video files.
And yes this is viewing through Windows Explorer. Also the ReadyNas icon doesn't show up as a "computer" to browse when you click on Network in Windows Explorer. I had to manually create a shortcut with it's address to bring it up.

Not seeing the folders in file explorer is not good.
Are you seeing errors in the log zip file? I'm wondering about disk health.

The disks show fine, Would deleting the media share and then re creating it cause this? Where are the log files going?

Well that explains why I've lost my data. Is there anyway to get it back?
I've downloaded all of the log files, what am I looking for in regards to new video files im copying to the nas but not showing up on my tv's?

No good way that I know of. You could try data recovery software (for instance ReclaiMe). The free download will tell you if it can find anything, you'll need to pay for it in order to enable actual recovery. Don't put more files on the NAS if you want to try data recovery.

You'd look in upnp-av.log for errors.

There are some errors and disconnection but it means nothing to me, can I email it to you or something?

Re: New content added not showing up on tv's on a network.
Probably better if you send the logs to Netgear (perhaps PM mdgm or skywalker first, and see if they are willing to analyze them for you).
Is the original problem still happening now that most of the files are gone?
