No longer have access to files on duo v1
Hopefully I get a response and some help from these forums. I searched these forums and found nothing directly related to my issues. Others were making changes, etc. when issues arose.
Here goes:
First I want to start out by saying I have a Readynas Duo V1. I have made no setting changes, no firmware updates, no disk changing or any changes at all recently
I was in the middle of using a WDTV, which is a network player, to access some of my media files. Right in the middle of accessing a different folder, the device told me there was "No media in the current folder". I turned both devices (the nas and WDTV) on and off multiple times thinking one or both had froze. This was not the case and did not fix the problem.
Next, I tried to access the Readynas from my computer through Windows explorer. (Something I have every other time without issue) When I tried this time, Windows popped up an error message stating that I do not have permission to access the file path.
To note:
1. I can access frontview and all disks are labeled as healthy
2. I checked the logs and there is NO ISSUES listed in the logs
3. The two main folders, media and backup, are listed on both devices. It's when I try to open those folders I get the error.
4. Originally, I had the backup folder hidden. After the problem mentioned here, I went into frontview to make it visible. When I try to access the "backup" folder it will open and show the 4 folders. When I try to access any one of those folders I get the error mentioned above.
5. After checking the forums for a solution, I thought I would try the OS reinstall for the readynas
The OS reinstall did not fix the problem. After trying the things mentioned I am guessing it has to be the readynas. I hope this is not the case. This unit has been very lightly used. I also understand that the only way to recover the data on the drives is to buy another Duo V1, plug in the drives, and then I can access the data or transfer the data to another device.
I look forward to any help or corrections you may have.

Re: No longer have access to files on duo v1
Check that you have a v1:
http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
Do you know what firmware is on the nas?
Try resetting the permissions on the relevant share:
Click on the "Advanced Options" Tab on the upper right.
Set the Share Folder Owner to nobody, and the Share Folder Group to nogroup.
Set Share folder group rights and everyone rights to read/write
Check the box next to "Set ownership and permission..."
The click on "Apply" at the bottom right.
The box next to "set ownership" will clear, and after a bit there should be a pop-up telling you it is finished.

Re: No longer have access to files on duo v1
I definitely have a v1. Checked your link anyway and just by the back of the unit it's a v1.
As for the firmware, I have RAIDiator 4.1.13.
I want to preface my point by saying that all folders have been public folders. No permissions have ever been set on any files or folders.
When I did what you mentioned I noticed that the "group rights" and "everyone rights" for the share were set to disabled. After doing what you mentioned the problem has been fixed. Although it seemed obvious, I never thought to check the permissions because I never changed them. What I don't understand now is why the permissions changed. I did not change them. Also, I was the only one accessing the files at the time and I was on a network player that I've used many times before without issue. Not to mention a network player does not have the capability to even change permissions on the nas. Any ideas?
Thanks for fixing my issue and for taking the time to help. I appreciate it.
