No volume exists after device restart!! Need urgent help
Hello,
I updated my firmware to 6.6.0. When I reboot it now says no volumes exist.
Very many thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi JCLJ,
Do you still have access to the ReadyNAS web interface? It might be best if we can get your system logs.
Regards,

Re: No volume exists after device restart!! Need urgent help
Hi FramerV
Thank you so much for replying.
Yes - I can access the readynas page (although after I reboot it takes a long time before I can access it) - it is just that I cant access any of the data. Here are the logs for the last few days.
Many thanks
JCLJ

Download the log zip file, and send the full zip to FramerV's attention.

Re: No volume exists after device restart!! Need urgent help
You asked, on a duplicate thread, whether the volume was encrypted and, if so, whether I had connected the USB key.
You are absolutely right that the volume is encrypted - and I had wondered if this might be the problem (but would it boot up at all if this were the problem?). As it happens I have also mislaid the USB key with the encryption key. But I had a copy of the encryption key which I copied onto a new USB stick and connected that. Two questions though: (1) Is simply copying the file with teh USB key into the root directory of the USB stick sufficient, and (2) Does it matter which USB port I put the USB stick in? I have put it in the one on the front.
Very many thanks again.
JCLJ.

Re: No volume exists after device restart!! Need urgent help
The user manual (pages 31-33 http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/READYNAS_OS_6_SM_EN.pdf) only says that the encryption key should be stored on a USB stick and connected to a USB port. It doesn't specify how to format the USB stick, but I'd use FAT32, or what USB port, but I'd use the front USB port (presuming you have a RN312).
Shutdown the NAS gracefully from the GUI, connect the USB stick containing the encryption key, boot the NAS. That should work.
