OS 6 - SingleDisk SpinDown
Dear all,
i'd like to use the new ReadyNas 104. Currently im using a Synology but im seeing more and more issues with this. Therefore my one Question that will be the deciding factor:
Is the ReadyNas able to SpinDown Disks seperately if they are not running in a RAID?
Reason for this: I am using Snapshot SW Raid, and i dont want all my disks to be powered all the time just because one disk is accessed.
On my current NAS, the Operating System is in a Raid1 on all the Disks, even though they are itself not connected in a RAID.
Can you please confirm if the same behaviour is seen on the ReadyNas Products?

Re: OS 6 - SingleDisk SpinDown
The OS is on partitions on the disks that are raided together. I think ReadyNAS OS does not support disk spin-down at this time,

Re: OS 6 - SingleDisk SpinDown
As mdgm mentioned, the OS (sysroot) is a RAID1 mirror across all disks in the system. If the OS is doing anything that needs to write/read, it would cause the spun down disks from another C/D volume to come back up also.
