This sounds like a power supply issue and update of firmware is coincidental. The display says "ReadyNAS" when it is just getting 5V power -- it takes no other interaction with the OS for that.
You didn't say which Pro model(s). But if it's a 6-bay unit, you can use a standard ATX supply externally to verify it is a power issue. Then see other threads about replcing the supply with the equivalent Seasonic one.

I have one ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer, the other is the ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition. I believe they are the exact same hardware.
Anyway, I swapped the RAM from the working unit to the non-working unit and that did nothing. Then I swapped swapped the power supplies and still no joy; the working Pro is now running fine with the non-working Pro's power supply. So if it's not the RAM and not the PSU I'm not sure what to do next : (
Any ideas?

Are they running the same firmware?

What happens if you power down both units and swap the disks?

Just powered down and swapped disks. The operational NAS will still boot with the other disks, the non-operational NAS will still not boot : (
The non-operational NAS has a CPU fan that is not working well. I swapped in the good CPU fan, it spins faster, but the NAS will still not boot. I still cannot get in to the boot menu.
What next?

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
So the non-booting NAS remains broken when you swap the disks, the PSU and the RAM. The booting NAS works fine after all these swaps.
That suggests the problem is in the flash (possibly the boot loader). I don't know if the USB recovery tool for OS6 will work with legacy NAS or not. Hopefully Netgear will comment.

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
FWIW, the OS6 flash recovery executable has a product pulldown in the menu. However, all x86 NAS are treated as one choice.
So I am thinking it is worth trying the flash recovery.

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
I've tried 3 different usb drives so far with no luck. I'm holding the backup button on the front of the NAS down for about 15-25 seconds after booting with the usb drive in the front usb port. Maybe I will try one of the usb ports in the back. My poor ReadyNAS! Not many available on the used market either : (

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Same issue, I have a monitor attached to mine and I see the USB key boot, kernel load and initrd load. with a message of ready imediatly following. after a second I see a message saying HDA-CODEC: No codec parser availble. Although this is an audio codec, I do not believe this is an issue stopping the USB Recovery from operating. Would really like to get this back up even if I have to factory default. The boot menu is unavailable as well.

I sent a PM to Skywalker, who has been incredibly helpful in the past. Hoping he might be able to weigh in as to whether the USB Recovery "should" work for our legacy devices.
How do I go about connecting a monitor to the ReadyNAS Pro?

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
You just need the cable, its pinned out on the montherboard already. I order a kit that had the cable from Tiger Direct. MA-BK01-LP1K is the part number on the box. My box is an older pro model, not sure if all have the monitor pinned or not.

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
I just upgraded a ReadyNAS Pro 6 from 6.2.4 to 6.4. After reboot, the admin Page shows the System Status as "Dead" as shown below
The system seems to be up and running with the exception of the system fan as shown below:
The fan was working fine with OS 6.2.4 and comes on during reboot, so I dont think it is a hardware problem.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? Also, I was going to restore back to OS 6.2.4 but I received an error that I couldnt go back to an older version. Is it no longer possible to go back to older versions of OS 6?
Thanks!

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Yes, several sub keys but it never fully boots. My previous post had some details. I have a monitor attached to see the boot process. It says initrd launched successfully but stops there.

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Without booting to the USB Drive I am seeing the following message on the monitor.
MBR
H
error
With the USB Booting:
syslinux 3.73 2009-01-25 EBIOS Copywrite (C) 1994-2008 Peter Anvin
boot:
Loading Kernel.......................................
Loading initrd.gz................................ready
hda-codec: No codec parser available
Unit is mildly upgrade with more RAM and I have updated the BIOS to support larger drives than what it came supporting orginally. It should be noted that the system was working on 6.4.0 for 2 weeks before a graceful shutdown. Once I tried powering it back up the device failed to start.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Hi All,
I have the Ultra 6 Plus and when I try to upload the PREP4TOR6_0.1-x86.bin as an addon it tells me that the architecture is not supported.
I may have missed a step, Any thoughts?

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Looks like I figured it out. Just had to do a factory reset BEFORE I started to do any of the upgrade steps. Very weird, but happy to say I am updated and working as expected!

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
cficik is it any different if you boot with no disks installed?
koolfrank87 the factory default before installing the add-on normally isn't needed. On your system there must have been a problem for the add-on to fail to install.

Re: OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Sadly, exactly the same. No difference between removing all the disks and having them installed.
