Problem ReadyNas NV+ Sparc. Volume Dead

Dears all,
After more than three week without accesing ReadyNas (but all the time on), i had a very bad surprise.
When i tryed to access through RAIDar wome wrong appear, and i was not able to access to my files.
I received emails: DEAD. THIS VOLUME IS NO LONGER AVALAIBLE.
I switched on and off. Now is in the same place during one hour in the screen:
IP ADRESS: 192.168.125.033 and it is not my local network.
If i try to switch off now... no answer.
Any idea ? Switch off with physic button ?
I have not the last firmware installed but the before last one.

You likely will need to forcibly power down. Try holding the switch down for several seconds, if that doesn't help you'll need to pull the plug.
Then I suggest removing the disks (labeling by slot) and powering up diskless. Then see if you get a correct IP address for your network, and if RAIDar discovers the NAS with "no disks" status.
While the disks are out, try testing them in a Windows PC with vendor tools (Seatools for Seagate, Lifeguard for Western Digital). Don't initialize them or format them of course - the vendor tools can find/test the disks even though windows doesn't recognize them.
If you want to put them back in the NAS, make sure it is powered down and that you preserve the original slot order.

i turned off with the back side switch. turn on and i can access to my files, but on the frontend still appears "not volume".
I executed a volume check. I will see.

Something is still wrong.
I could access to my shared files through the Raidar, but only one time.
Now i can see the folders when i go with Raidar but i can not access. All lights are green.
In frontend, the light Volume is Yellow. It says is not active. 0% busy.
What is The Volume exactly

goes directly to /shares and says "No shares currently accessible"

Wow, I would have thought the ReadyNAS software advanced enough to recognize disks by id independently of the slots.
Is that not the case ?

Sorry for the mistake.. probably i wrote wrong.
I used a seagate tool for windows and discovered wrongs in one disk.
What can i do ? Must i try to repair ? or must i buy i new one ?
I have raid 5, how to proceed ?

It is supposed to, but in general it's safest not to depend on that working - especially when the volume isn't mounting.

Try booting up without that disk - leaving it's slot empty.
If you can access your data, back it up before you do anything else.

I started without the bad disk but the same.
I can not access to my folders, remember that i use raid 5 (is normal then i can not access without one disk ??)
I have one disk broken (it seems) i have raid 5, so i am safe, right ??
With seagate tool only one disk fail

When you enter // in explorer, it will simply open a browser. Microsoft uses \\ and \. The web interfaces only use /.
So try entering \\nas-ip-address in windows file explorer (using the real IP address). If you have a volume mounted, it should show you the shares in the normal file explorer pane. It might prompt for username/password of course.
If you in fact have no volume mounted, it will fail.

That's generally true, but not always. If the three disks are no longer synced then you can lose the volume even though they are healthy.
The only real way to be safe is to have backups of your files on other devices. RAID alone is not enough.
If you are the original purchaser of the NAS, you could try using paid support to get your data (my.netgear.com). Netgear does offer a data recovery service (warning: data recovery is expensive), but the normal per-incident support might be enough to mount your volume.

Sorry !! i was confused about explorer......
I wrote \\nas..ip\ in the windows explorer now as you told me.
"Impossible to access".
I will contact with NETGEAR, i will cross fingers.
Very unhappy with Raid system, the first problem that i have and it fails.
But, is not a solution to put a new disk ?? Or if i remove the wrong disk the system could work with only three ? (ir Raid system works fine)

If the volume is dead, a new disk won't revive it.
If you removed the wrong disk, then the system would be trying to mount a volume with only 2 working drives. That would fail.
Be careful to turn the NAS off before you remove/reinsert disks. Leaving it on would do more damage.

I have four disks and i have one failing.
I configurated Raid 5.
What happend If i use seagate windows tool to repair wrong disk ?
I can accept to lose some information, but if i delete some information in one disk, will it impact on the others ?
If i do not use Raid, probably i lose some information from the wrong disk. But now, i have not any access to my information. Am i right ?
i sent message to my netgear, but i am not sure it arrive to right place.....

Personally I don't try to repair the disks, I just replace them. I've found that once the disks begin to fail, they just get worse until they fail altogether.
But if you try to repair the wrong one, it shouldn't find anything to repair.

After contacting techincal support... problem is solved !!
Again the same problem that in the past: too much log files on the OS partition.
Is the second time for me.
It looks that every two or three years it happen. It could be very nice some assistance to solve by ourselves.
I do not know how to avoid this problem in the future.
In other way one disk shows fails, i am going to change before it generates a bigger problem

If you have a reasonable understanding of linux commands you can enable ssh and monitor the os partition fullness. If you catch it before it gets very full it is fairly easy to fix. If you search the forum, you will find some guidance.

ReadyDLNA does take some OS partition space in the legacy ReadyNAS.
Installing this add-on (posted by Skywalker some time ago) will help: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/4.1/Toggle_ReadyDLNA_CacheDir_1.0.bin
It moves the ReadyDLNA cache to the C volume. It is a "toggle" add-on - it has no UI, and won't show up in the add-on list. You uninstall by installing it a second time.
