Quota Problem
ReadyNAS 3100 with 4.2.20 joined to Win 2003 Domain
Trying to setup quotas for Sales Group. I have a SALES folder on the NAS with permissions for the SALES Group. I am part of the Sales group in AD. When I copy files to the Sales folder I only ever see the group Domain Users usage grow or shrink in Front View. Domain Users do not have permissions to the Sales folder. The usage doesn't even grow under my user account in Front View. What am I doing wrong?
Did a little research and found this:
The user's primary group applies only to users who log on to the network through Services for Macintosh or to who run POSIX-compliant applications. Unless you are using these services, there is no need to change the primary group from Domain Users, which is the default value.
Setting the user's primary group membership to a value other than Domain Users may adversely impact performance as all users in the domain are members of Domain Users. If the user's primary group is set to another group, it may cause the group membership to exceed the supported maximum number of members.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Is this the reason only the Domain Users group's usage grows in Front View?

Re: Quota Problem
Changing the user's Primary Group in ADUC from Domain Users to SALES fixes the issue for disk quota on the ReadyNAS.
Tested the quota limits and they work. The issue is now that the user is not getting the email alerts even though their email address is entered for their user account in Front View. Only the people listed on the Alert Contact get the emails. I was under the impression that the users that belong to the SALES group would also get an email. Do I have this wrong?

Re: Quota Problem
Members of a group quota will not get an email alert when the quota limit is reached for that group. Users will only get an email alert if there user account quota has been set.
