RAID1 question

Hi,

I just got my hands on the Ultra 4, but I have a question.

I've put my Nas into Raid1 mode with 2 WD 2TB disks.

This means that the disks are mirrored, right?

So how can I check both disks to see that the contents is the same on both disks?
I've copied some files over to the network drive for the NAS (in the media folder).

When I enter the NAS network drive, I can only find two folders: media, and backup.
So I'm not sure which disk I'm actually looking at.

Any advice is appreciated 🙂

Re: RAID1 question

When it's mirrored the data is identical on both disks you do not need to check it, 2 disks in raid 1 show as 1 volume.

Re: RAID1 question

The mirroring is invisible to you - the NAS is writing to both drives, and only shows you one volume. If it showed you both, you could possibly destroy the mirror by modifying one and not the other.

Under "Volume maintenance" there is a "disk scrub" function which should compare the drives for you. (At least, that is available with xraid2, I think it is there with raid 1).

Ok I get it! Thanks 🙂

Yes the scrub function seems to be available with raid1 mode as well

Re: RAID1 question

as long as the volume status is 'redundant' then the disks are in sync

Yes. And the disk scrub validates that.
