RN102, Windows Explorer and SMB

Hi, I'm posting this as it took me ages to figure out my problem, simply though it was, in part because a number of older posts on this site look like they are addressing the problem but were addressing other, dated, issues. Situation - three Windows 10 PC can "see" my old RN102 running 6.9.1 fine (ie RN102 appears in Computer area of Windows Explorer>Network). However because one of the PC's was having problems seeing another I investigated, found that 2 of the 3 had SMBv1 installed, one didn't. The web told me I should remove it if I could, it's insecure and Win 10 doesn't install it in clean installs anymore anyway. It can be added/removed by typing "Turn Windows features on and off" in the Windows search tool. My web browsing established that Windows 10 uses SMB v3, ReadyNAS uses SMB v3 and since 6.5.2 includes WSD (Web Services for Devices) so that it can be discovered by Windows. So I removed SMB v1 from the 3 PCs and yes, my RN102 disappeared from Windows Explorer. Reinstall SMB v1 and it reappears. Well apparently SMB v1 relies on some NetBIOS network browser/master browser feature to find devices and removing SMB v1 was killing it. But with SMB v3 everywhere and WSD it shouldn't matter...... There were any number of possibilities I checked out, including subnet correct, workgroup correct , but what it finally turned out my issue was that I had replaced my router some time ago and not told the ReadyNAS. In the GUI Network> Links> Settings> IPv4, set my new routers address as the Router and DNS, and hey presto, RN102 is back WITHOUT SMB v1. Hope this adds something for people struggling to find possibilities for why their NAS has disappears from Windows Explorer!
