RN10222D Power Light (blue) Slowly Flashing

I was working on the web console of my NAS and it reported the lastest firmware was available, once I had finished my changes I downloaded and start the upgrade, that was my biggest mistake!  Knowing how long these updates take, I left the unit over night and went to access the following day, found I was unable to access my shares and then noticed the power light was flashing slowly.  Turned the unit off and then back on and left for a further day, blue light still flashing!

I have since tried to access the boot menu using the reset button however this option is not available using the backup button, I have tried os reinstall and volume read, all I get is the blue flashing light.  I have removed the disks and tried to gain access to the boot menu and again not available just the blue flashing light.

I have a backup of the data as I know how fragile these "Netgear business NAS" drives are, just did not want to have to complete a full reset and go through all the hassle to rebuild, any help would be much appreciated as I have run out of ideas.

Perhaps Netgear should test their firmware updates to destruction before releasing them to Joe public, as this is the second time a firmware update has upset my NAS!

Re: RN10222D Power Light (blue) Slowly Flashing

Was not able to do a USB or boot menu restore, both options failed and telephone support was not able to resolve issue.

Unit was RMA'ed under warranty .

Re: RN10222D Power Light (blue) Slowly Flashing

No answers to your problem I am afraid, just a couple of observations mainly for the benefit of others, but hopefully someone will chime in to help you.

1. The Readynas RN10222D is not a "Netgear business NAS" as you have stated above, it is a Home Use NAS.

2. Re: your comment above "Knowing how long these updates take, I left the unit over night and went to access the following day" That shoud not have been necessary as Firmware updates, under normal conditions, usually complete in 5-15 minutes.

Sorry I can´t be of more help.

Which firmware did you update from? It sounds like you may not have followed the recommended firmware update path, though the update presented by the GUI would be the recommended one. It wou only be if you were doing a manual update that you might not follow the recommended update path.

Perhaps try USB Boot Recovery with 6.6.1 Beta

Re: RN10222D Power Light (blue) Slowly Flashing

Thanks for the update. I would suggest putting a scratch disk (must not be from your array) in the replacement, updating to 6.2.5 if running older firmware than 6.2.1 and then using this workaround to update to 6.6.1: ReadyNAS OS 6: RN100/RN2120 cannot update due to invalid checksum

If the replacement is already running 6.4.0 (or later) you can update the replacement directly to 6.6.1.

Then power down, remove the scratch disk and move your disks to the replacement unit.

Re: RN10222D Power Light (blue) Slowly Flashing

The replacement has arrived and have installed with disks as before.

unit booted and all data was available still.

Have been able to update via web console to latest version and unit is working OK now.

thanks for the suggestions and help.
