Did you also disable two-factor authentication on the gmail side?

Re: RN104 firmware 6.5.2 gmail setup
Interesting. That does work for me. My NAS is set to port 465, use TLS is checked, and the SMTP server is set to smtp.googlemail.com
If you are using a static IP address on the NAS, double-check your subnet mask and your DNS servers. It is possible that you simply can't reach the internet from the NAS.

6.5.2 is the newest production software. Are you sure that's what you are running?

Re: RN104 firmware 6.5.2 gmail setup
Can you list the settings you are using for sending email alerts (apart from your email address and password across)?
Here's what works for me
smtp provider: smtp.gmail.com
User: myemail@gmail.com
Password: mypassword
SMTP server: smtp@gmail.com
SMTP port: 465
From: myemailaddress@gmail.com
Use TLS: checked
You can send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig) as well if you like.

Re: RN104 firmware 6.5.2 gmail setup
when I add with myemail.gmail.com it gets prefilled with:
Email Account Privider: smtp.gmail.com:465
SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
User: mymail.gmail.com
SMTP Port: 465
Password: mygmailpassword
From: mymail.gmail.com
Use TLS: checked
I have also tried with custom: and used 465 as port and also 587 as port
It spins for a while and comes back with the same error

This is likely a typo, but just in case: the User and From fields need to be mymail@gmail.com (not mymail.gmail.com)

Re: RN104 firmware 6.5.2 gmail setup
It is my mistake, after looking at the logfile I logged out of gmail and tryed to login. Failed and gave me a hint that I changed password some time ago. Using new password bingo it now works.
Sorry for the confusion .. If you get the same question again, ask people to sign out gmail and test the password by signing on again.
Thanks for all support and hints ...
