RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
Hi everyone,
in march 2023 I bought the new Mac Book Pro 14" M2 with OS Ventura installed.
For the first month everything worked fine with my ReadyNas 104. It was reachable both from browser and as a network share.
I suppose that last update to 13.4.1 has changed something.
As an absurd fact I can reach it remotely, but not on local network, it says that my Mac is not on the same LAN, but that's not true. Any other device (iPhones iPads, Samsung Tv, other Macs) still works fine with NAS
Thanks for answering

You might try this:
It be good to post back on whether this works (or not).

Re: RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
While doing this I noticed that from the network folder even my Mac Pro was no longer accessible (even the icon had changed from the Mac Pro one to the monitor one). After rebooting Mac Pro was accessible again but not my ReadyNas.

Even tried a ping call to IP address of my NAS and received only timeout errors.
That suggests something pretty serious is wrong.
Are you seeing the correct IP address on the NAS LCD screen?

Re: RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
Anyway I can access NAS from every other device on my LAN, only the Mac with Ventura is not working: it seems to be a known issue of this OS, as I found doing many Google search.
I even rebooted NAS and router but nothing changed. Think I have to wait for a Ventura update, hoping Apple fixes this bug.

Not being able to ping the NAS is a more fundamental issue than the SMB access problems I've seen when I google.
How is the mac connected to your network?
Can you ping other devices on your network from the mac

Which is puzzling. ping is a very basic service, so something is off.
Are you pinging it by its IP address? Or are you using the hostname?

Are the devices you can ping also connected to wifi?
Or are they connected to ethernet?
Have there been any recent changes to your network setup (new router/ap, etc)?

Re: RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
No changes on my LAN
The only change is that Netgear dropped remote service, ReadyCloud account have expired on 1st of july. But it was for remote access to NAS. Local access is still granted and it works, but not on Mac with Ventura. Really weird…

Yes, but that wouldn't affect ping at all.
Did you every try ping on the Mac back when ReadyCloud was still running?
Is there any internet security software running on the Mac?
Also, I suggest downloading RAIDar 6.5 for MacOS and seeing if that can find the NAS from the Mac.

Re: RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
I do not have any internet security software installed on my Mac
Do not know if any setting I ignore is working in background…
RAIDar detects my NAS on the LAN…

I don't own a Mac, so I can't give any more tailored advice.
But I do know that ping not working is either a result of a network configuration error, or something running on the Mac that is blocking the ping request or response.

Re: RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
Do you know how I could find out what is blocking ping?
I asked my Mac via Terminal a network IP map, and NAS IP was not there…
I even thought it could be my ORBI system not routing IP’s correctly, I restarted it but nothing changed…
Talked with Apple assistance, after an hour of call and many tries nothing… re-installed OS as their last suggestion, nothing…

Re: RN104 not accessible anymore from MacBook Pro OS Ventura 13.4.1
I removed static IP for my NAS on the router
It has always been a static IP, it has always worked fine but that’s it…I decided to try this solution and it worked. Don’t know why but it worked
Thanks a lot for your patience. Hope that this discussion could be helpful to many others

This won't make a static IP config on the ReadyNAS - it's just a MAC<->IP-address reservation for the DHCP client on the NAS, so the DHCP server will assign the same IP again.
