RN202 Web Interface not starting!

I just uninstalled transmission app and now I can't get into the interface.  I'm getting 'Err_connection_refused' in chrome.  Help!

Hello ayodeji13,

Can you still get to the shares of the NAS? Have you tried rebooting the NAS?

Welcome to the community!

Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

Progress!

I rebooted and got into readyNAS (yay!).  But I still can't access the shares in windows anymore. 😞

I have these messages in my logs

Fri Apr 22 2016 11:58:33 Disk: Detected high command timeouts: [60] on disk 2 (Internal) [ST6000DM001-1XY17Z, Z4D2QXDG]. This condition often indicates an impending failure. Be prepared to replace this disk to maintain data redundancy.
Fri Apr 22 2016 11:57:07 System: ReadyNASOS background service started.
Fri Apr 22 2016 11:56:52 Volume: System volume root's usage is 100%. This condition should not occur in normal conditions. Contact technical support.

Of course both are concerning, but the full root volume is why you can't access the NAS.

Do you have ssh enabled?  Did you install transmission manually, or did you use @super_poussin's app?

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

I installed transmission via the UI (Apps -> Available apps).  BTW, its still showing transmission under my installed apps.  I had clicked 'remove' before this whole thing started, so I guess it didn't uninstall.

In system--services, SSH is NOT enabled.

Hope that helps

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

The OS partition needs to be cleaned out.

Options are

(a) contact support, and have them do it remotely.  Alternatively, someone from Netgear who posts here might reach out to you and offer.

(b) Enable ssh, and troubleshoot it yourself.

(c) delete all logs (system and backup) from the admin ui, and see if that helps.

(d) do a factory reset, and restore all the data.

If you aren't familiar with linux commands, then you probably shouldn't attempt (b).

The risk with (c) is that it might not address the real root cause.

You should probably also power down the NAS and test disk 2 in a PC with Seatools.

I have basic familiarity with linux commands.  How do I do (b)?  I am not able to back up my data, so I would like to try to fix via SSH first before doing factory reset.  Thanks!

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

On the RN202 you enable ssh on the settings->services page of the admin UI.  You then can connect with putty (on a PC) or terminal (on a mac).  The username is "root", the password is the same as the NAS admin password.

Start with entering

df . -h

df . -i

The first tells you the overall fullness of the OS partition, the second tells you the number of available inodes.

My RN202 is showing about 523MB of space used in the OS partition (and about 12K inodes).

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

I deleted Tvmobili a while back via the admin page, not sure why there is a directory there for it and its taking up so much space...might that be the culprit?  If it is how do I take care of that?

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

It certainly is full, and the space is all taken up by /var/tvmobili

How was that installed?  Whatever it is putting in /var should be put somewhere else (for instance the data volume)

Sorry, our posts crossed...

If the app is already-gone, you can use

rm -rf /var/tvmobili

to delete the folder.  Be careful to type it correctly, you don't want to accidentally delete a system folder.

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

i installed tvmobili a while back via the admin page app ui, and the app would not update to the latest version.  so i installed the latest version by uploading a download of the current version of the app downloaded from tvmobili's website.  maybe they didn't install to the same location?

Re: Got into readyNAS but can't access shares in windows AND i have some error logs

Ok, so that folder is gon and how I'm showing only 19% usage / 2.9gb avail.

I am now able to access my shares via windows explorer and I no longer have the error in my logs.

Now,

I tried to remove transmission via the app page, but i'm getting "Cannot uninstall application Transmission for Readynas".  How can I remove this?

Also, if I want to install tvmobili's latest client, how can I install it but not to root?
