Raidar fails to discover device NAS1500
I'm been using a NAS1500 without any problems, but took it out of service for a few weeks and now trying to add it to a new LAN. I've forgotten what it's fixed IP was, although I've always used a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and various lan's typically 192.168.0.xxx, 192.168.1.xxx, 192.168.10.xxx
So I've directly connected a PC (win xp sp3) and configured the PC's network connection to 192.168.0.20/255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 but raidar does not detect the NAS. I've used a spare router set up on 192.168.0.xxx and connected the nas & pc but still no luck. I then also tried the same idea using 192.168.1.xxx.
So my question is, if I don't know the IP address of the nas, then how can I discover it?
Thanks
Trevor

Re: Raidar fails to discover device NAS1500
Have you looked in the router config setup screen and looked for connected devices,
it should show the ip address of the nas if its connected.
it should show the ip address of the nas if its connected.

Re: Raidar fails to discover device NAS1500
The router doesn't show the nas as a connected device as it may be on a different lan group?
ie Router LAN range 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.100 and the nas may be 192.168.0.91

You could try an OS Re-install: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu

Re: Raidar fails to discover device NAS1500
Change the routers lan ip to 192.168.0.1
Change the router dhcp ip address range to start from 192.168.0.2
if you cant change it i would follow what mdgm says as it will not destroy your data,
but make sure to choose os reinstall and not factory default.

Re: Raidar fails to discover device NAS1500
Thanks for info
So long as the data isn't lost then I don't mind resetting the NAS OS - I'll give it a go later and let you know how I get on.

Re: Raidar fails to discover device NAS1500
One bent paper clip later and the OS has been reset. Raidar found it OK and I've set two new fixed IPs so we're up and running again.
Many Thanks
