ReadyDLNA shows up multiple validation suite failures.
ReadyDLNA shows up multiple validation failures against Intels UPNP Test Suite
Hi I'm new to the forum so please excuse any newbi ness that might be apparent!
I've been trying to track down some intermittent issues with my Panasonic TV locating the DLNA server
on my Duo. For various reasons I've been convinced that its the TV at fault and I'm just at the stage of sending
Wireshark traces to a specialist at Panasonic. But last night something new came up.
Last night I came accross Intels UPNP tools for developers (www.software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-tools-for-upnp-technologies)
and particularly their Device Validator. (A complete suite of tests for UPnP devices.)
So I ran it against the readyDLNA server and a lot of failures are shown up with most being in the Discovery Tests which is exactly the area where the TV is having trouble. (I'm sure that most of you know that DLNA is built on top of UPNP.)
Now as a software developer myself I'd bet a pound to a penny that the readyDLNA s/w is already tested with
this (or something like it and I'm hoping that Skywalker is going to spot this post and tell me that the failures are
explainable/irrelevant so I can carry on with Panasonic.
If anyone else fancies downloading the Intel software and trying them against their own NAS I'd be very interested to see what results you get.
Also the Device Validator can export and import its results so If I can I'll attach my results to this post.

That URL is slightly wrong. The correct one is http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-tools-for-upnp-technologies .

While I was still working there, UPnP Certification Test Tool 2.0 was run against ReadyDLNA constantly. This tools logs are required to get DLNA certified. Not sure if the Intel tool is used, but as you said, Skywalker will comment on that.

Re: ReadyDLNA shows up multiple validation suite failures.
Thanks for that chirpa. I've looked at the UPnP Certification Test Tool 2.0 but it seems to be upnp members only. Pity that, it would have been nice to get a second opinion as its hard to believe that the Intel s/w would be so far off the mark. So we wait upon Skywalker with "bated breath".
