Good day!
We want to upgrade our ReadyNAS 2100 to OS6, replace the disks from 2TB to 4TB and update the OS either to the salty version of Debian, or to put something else, for example Fedora30. Tell me, how best to do it and can it be done?

If you convert it to OS-6 you'll be running Debian 8. The current release (6.10.1) shows the following:
root@NAS:~# uname -srm
Linux 4.4.178.x86_64.1 x86_64
root@NAS:~# cat /etc/os-release PRETTY_NAME="ReadyNASOS 6.10.1" NAME="Debian GNU/Linux" VERSION_ID="8" VERSION="8 (jessie)" ID=debian HOME_URL="http://www.debian.org/" SUPPORT_URL="http://www.debian.org/support" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"
If you want to continue to run OS-6 you'll need to stick with Netgear-supplied linux.
There's a lot of information on how to do the conversion in this forum. One of several links is here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS-in-Business/Lost-contact-with-NAS-after-upgradi...
This conversion isn't supported by Netgear - meaning they won't provide paid support if you do it.

The 2100 v2 can be upgraded to OS-6, but not the v1.

Re: ReadyNAS 2100 Update
Can I put disks over 2TB? Is it possible to update Debian to the latest version or install another OS? Any help.

I don't own a 2100v2, but I believe you can already do that. Note the published hard drive compatibility list hasn't been updated for years, so it is outdated. However, there are some XRAID expansion limits with 4.2.x firmware that will kick in if you go too large.

Re: ReadyNAS 2100 Update
Will this manual suit me?
After that, the procedure is
- Download PREP4TOR6_0.1-x86.bin and install it as an add-on
- Download R4toR6_6.9.5 .bin and install it as a firmware update
- Reboot the NAS
One more question. Is there any difference what to do first, update OS6 or Debian?

You can't update Debian and you likely will brick the NAS if you try. You need to use the Debian that Netgear provides as part of the firmware.
After the OS-6 conversion you'll be running debian 8 (as I illustrated above). 6.10.1 uses a newer kernel than 6.9.5, but the way to get that is to upgrade the firmware after the conversion.

Well, you can't update the Debian within OS6. You can discard the Netgear OS and convert the NAS to a generic FreeNAS or similar system with an updated Linux. You can find a lot of information on coverting ReadyNAS to FreeNAS by Googling. Anything that's written for an Intel 64-bit ReadyNAS (usually for a Pro or Ultra) will be mostly applicable to the 2100V2 except references to the displays (external LED and internal VGA on the Pro6).
I have personally chosen OS6 over a generic Linux for my upgraded OS4.2.x systems, as maintenance is much easier. I feel the Linux is up to data enough, but I am not in a high-reliability/vulnerability business situation.

Agreed, but my understanding was that they wanted OS-6 too.
