ReadyNAS 3130, VMware mount request was denied

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.CreateNasDatastore" for object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi "10.3.81.22" failed.
NFS mount 10.3.81.45:/vmware failed: The mount request was denied by the NFS server. Check that the export exists and that the client is permitted to mount it.
An unknown error has occurred.

Error above is when I try to connect to my NFS share on my ReadyNAS 3130. Ip address is correct, I was able to see a SMB share. Any trick to the folder name?

In the NAS and network access I have NFS turned on, Read/write is "checked" and root access is "checked" to my ESXi 5.5.0 host. I did provide read/write access to any host and it didn't work either.

See http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13202

You need to make sure the data volume is named in the path. The default volume name is "data" (no quotes).

I would recommend you create a new share with bitrot protection and snapshots disabled for shares you wish to use with VMWare.

Re: ReadyNAS 3130, VMware mount request was denied

I tried with /c/data, /data, made a new folder called vmware and tried with /vmware, /c/data/vmware, /c/vmware

folder had read/write and root access....FYI the 3130 was not on the list of that KB

Re: ReadyNAS 3130, VMware mount request was denied

No. You need to use e.g. /data/vmware if the data volume is called data and the share is called vmware

The example in the link I gave has c as the volume name.

Ok, yep that did it...I used /data/VMware

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Re: ReadyNAS 3130, VMware mount request was denied

In reference to bit rot protection, should I also use compression?

Re: ReadyNAS 3130, VMware mount request was denied

No. I would disable both bitrot protection and also disable compression.

I would also disable snapshots on the ReadyNAS.
