ReadyNAS 3138 Problems since Upgrading to 6.9.5 Firmware

After using our ReadyNAS 3138 without any issues for months, we recently upgraded the Firmware from 6.9.4 to 6.9.5. All of our approximately 25 users are on Macs and using SMB to connect. Since the upgrade, 4-5 users are having constant issues with losing connections while saving Microsoft Word Docs. Any suggestions? And is there a way to safely/easily downgrade back to 6.9.4?

Yes.  You can download the firmware from https://kb.netgear.com/000060110/ReadyNAS-OS-6-Software-Version-6-9-4, extract the binary from the zip, and install it from the web ui (system->settings page).

Hi @gcosgrove

Is it the same 4-5 users reporting issues every time? Or is it random which users are having (similar) issues at various times?

In terms of 6.9.5 vs 6.9.4 the only relevant mention in the release notes is:

"Fixed Samba connections issues that were happening in 6.9.4."

I don't know the extend of what means but something was changed anyway 🙂

I wondered if the Macs that are having issues are on certain version of MacOS, etc. Is it only Words docs causing problems? Not Excel sheets or other forms of data access?

Do they get any errors when try to save changes in the Word doc or does the doc not open when accessing or what happens?

Cheers
