ReadyNAS NV+ Can Connect with RAIDar, but will not enter browse or admin page - Oct19

Hello,

I have a old ReadyNAS NV+ and am trying to get it to connect to a new computer.  I installed latest RAIDar version and it discovers the NV+ no problem.  But it will not let me Browse or Admin Page the drive.  Error Box pops up: "Your NETGEAR storage is not accessible from this computer. Check your network settings."

Have tried adding to my credential manager with no success. NV+ connceted through a router to windows10 laptop.  192.168.1.99 displayed on front and on RAIDar.

Also activated SMB1 on the laptop with no success.

Help!

Is your laptop IP in the 192.168.1.xxx subnet?  (Open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG to find out.)  If not, it sounds like the NAS is set up with a static IP outside the subnet of your router.  That often happens if you set a static IP and then change routers.  RAIDar uses an alternate discovery method that's not subnet-specific.

An OS re-install will reset the NAS to use DHCP and also reset the admin password to netgear1 (not password, as on newer models).  Alternately, you can connect your laptop directly to the NAS via Cat5 cable and manually set the laptop IP to the 192.168.1.xxx range (Google has lots of articles on doing this).

Once you get into the GUI, turn off the static IP.  Then, connect the NAS and PC back into your network, and re-boot both.  You should now see the NAS at a different IP address, and you should be able to connect.

It is best to reserve an IP address in your router instead of setting a static IP in the NAS, specifically to avoid this issue in the future.

Should'nt that be to the 192.168.168.xxx range?

When I run IPConfig it tells me:

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.102

Is that what i am looking for?

Also, when I plug in the NV+ direclty to the laptop it give me 192.168.168.168.

I guess I'm not 100% clear on what step I should take...

Try changing your laptop IP to 192,168.168.200 when connected directly to the NAS

What happens if you keep the NAS connected to the router, and you browse to https://192.168.1.99/admin ?

If that works, then what happens if you open CMD in the laptop and enter

net use * /delete

net use t: \\192.168.1.99\sharename /user:admin nas-admin-password

using the real NAS admin password and a real sharename of course.  Be careful on the slash directions and the spaces.

The first command closes any open SMB sessions; the second attempts to map the share to drive letter t.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Can Connect with RAIDar, but will not enter browse or admin page - Oct19

I connected to it directly, changed my IP address, and now I can get to the admin page https://192.168.168.168/admin.

When I try to BROWSE off of RAIDar it only opens my documents.

I tired to connect load a new drive via the "net use t: \\192.168.1.99\sharename /user:admin nas-admin-password"

But i keep getting error 53 or 67.  Not sure what my sharename is?

What shares do you have configured on the NAS?  Just pick one of them.  There are two default shares - media and backup.
