ReadyNAS NV+ V1 dead disk 1 drives 2 and 4 showing 0mb free

Came home from vacation only to find my NV+ v1 frozen. Tried to unplug and reboot, and it and nothing. Disk 1 was making noise, and I read that sometimes if disk 1 went out you would need to replace that before it would boot. Got the new drive in yesterday, replaced it, and no boot. Next step was refreshing the OS, so used the reset button on the back to do that. After that didn't work I tried putting drive one back in, and replacing one drive at a time with the new drive I had just purchased. Still nothing. Went back and swaped out drive 1 again with the new drive and this time it booted, but was still telling me I had a dead drive on the frontview.

Once I was able to get fully booted it showed the following..

Slot 1 - no drive

Slot 2 - 0mb free

Slot 3 - 928 gb free

Slot 4 - 0mb free

Looking at the logs it seems that drive 4 had been failing but for some reason I never got the email notifications.

I am afraid that I've lost my data.....  Any ideas?

Hi CVeit,

Welcome to the community!

For this kind of scenario, it would be better if you will contact our support team to get some help. It is possible that you had more than one drive that failed during this time and data recovery is your only option to get your files back.

Kind regards,

Hi Brian,

I actually spoke with them for about an hour and they sent me here.

Did you ask them about a data recovery contract?

No I didn't. I wasn't even aware of that option. Any idea what this would cost? There are 4 1tb drives in the system.

Thank you.

Hi CVeit,

First, you will get charged for per incident support and then they will offer the data recovery services for $200. Again this process won't guarantee the success of recovering your data. Let me know if you have other questions.

Kind regards,
