ReadyNAS NV+ v2 block size

Model: ReadyNAS NV+ v2

Firmware: RAIDiator 5.3.13

Disks: 4 x WD30EFRX

History:

This unit was originally built 4-5 years ago with 500GB disks (I believe 2 expanded to 4, but it's not really relevant). Over the course of the next year, the 500GB disks were replaced with the 3TB WD Reds and the volume expanded. The firmware on the NV+ v2 would've been upgraded during this time also.

After the expansion I became aware of the 4k vs 16k issues, but didn't ever get around to rebuilding the volume.

Fast forward to now, I've fully backed up the unit and today factory reset it, rebuilt the volume but the block size still seems to be 4096, this isn't what I was expected. Did I miss something?

Thanks for any assistance!

Side note: The 4th disk is resyncing, it did this before if the unit was restarted, however I hoped the rebuild would help, I suspect the drive might be faulty, but should I try re-initialising it somehow before creating an RMA?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ v2 block size

So, I think I managed to confuse myself with NV+ versions, am I right in understanding that the v2 is always 4096 and isn't affected by this problem?

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ v2 block size

Correct. The NV+ v2 uses a 4K blocksize and has different expansion limitations.
