ReadyNAS Pro Lost Volumes on Disk replacement

Hi all. Slight panic stations here. I have a ReadyNAS Pro (latest firmware - 4.2.22) which had 6 Samsung HD204UI 2TB drives. I swapped one out for a new WD WD30EFRX 'NASWare' WD Red 3TB drive. It rebuild the volume with the new drive and I rebooted as I have done everytime I have swapped out a disk. Then as you can see in the logs below.... The volumes don't show! Any ideas before I find a bridge to jump off? Should I put the 2TB drive back in? I don't believe data has been written to the volume during that time but I'm sure something would have changed.

Sat Apr 6 16:11:44 WEST 2013 New disk detected. If multiple disks have been added, they will be processed one at a time. Please do not remove any added disk(s) during this time. [Disk 3]
Sat Apr 6 16:08:59 WEST 2013 If the failed disk is used in a RAID level 1, 5, or X-RAID volume, please note that volume is now unprotected, and an additional disk failure may render that volume dead. If this disk is a part of a RAID 6 volume, your volume is still protected if this is your first failure. A 2nd disk failure will make your volume unprotected. If this disk is a part of a RAID 10 volume, your volume is still protected if more than half of the disks alive. But another failure of disks been marked may render that volume dead. It is recommended that you replace the failed disk as soon as possible to maintain optimal protection of your volume.

Sat Apr 6 16:08:49 WEST 2013 A disk was removed from the ReadyNAS. One or more RAID volumes are currently unprotected, and an additional disk failure or removal may result in data loss. Please add a replacement disk as soon as possible.

Try rebooting using the front panel option to skip the volume check.

Re: ReadyNAS Pro Lost Volumes on Disk replacement

I stuck the old drive back in again and now at least the volume mounts although it just shows the 3Tb as dead rather than recognising the old 2TB drive. I'm going to try and find a spare 9TB somewhere to back stuff up before doing anything else!

Re: ReadyNAS Pro Lost Volumes on Disk replacement

My Pro has done similar, very strange things. I just loaded 3 WD30EFRX into my NAS without incident. But I find, generally, that my NAS never seems to know what's going on with the disks.

Please reboot your unit to "tech support" mode and contact Netgear support engineer.
Then you get a case#, please add the case # into the subject, and send a PM to me.
