ReadyNAS RND4000v2 to RN422 Compatibility
Hey all,
I've been tasked with recovering files from a RND4000v2 with 2x 3TB HDD in RAID 1.
The RND4000v2 no longer boots and has no backup 😞
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RND4000v2_(ReadyNAS_NV_plus_v2).aspx
Am considering getting a new ReadyNAS RN422 as a direct replacement however am wanting to confirm its compatibility. i.e can transfer the 2x HDD over and access existing data without the need to reformat etc.
Can anyone confirm this or suggest a current NAS model that would work?
Thanks kindly in advance.

Re: ReadyNAS RND4000v2 to RN422 Compatibility
The process required is described in ReadyNAS: Migrating disks from RAIDiator 4.1 or RAIDiator 5.3 to ReadyNAS OS 6
You do need somewhere to backup your data to e.g. a USB disk or storage on your network. There would be data recovery costs involved.

Re: ReadyNAS RND4000v2 to RN422 Compatibility
If the array is healthy, there is a free process you can try.
That is to install r-linux for windows on a PC, and then connect one of the disks to the PC (either SATA or with a USB dock/adapter).
R-linux for Windows should see the files - if it does, you can offload them to external storage, and then restore them to the RN422 system after the set up process.
