ReadyNAS pro 6, random halt after 6.9.0

Hello.

After FW upgrade to 6.9.0 one of the Pro6 boxes started to halting at random time. No ping, no web interface, no iSCSI, no SMB.

upgrading to 6.9.3 didn't help.

how to fix it? thanks.

Are you running any other services?

Are you using any apps?

Can you send me your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

At the given times it might be totally overwhelmed by dealing with the antivirus service. If not already done, you might want to disable this and see whether it helps.

Another resource hog is is the file search service. You might want to try switching this off, too.

I sent log to you.

Search and AV are disabled.

Services are only: http/https/snmp/ssh (it's storage for iSCSI LUN only).

 no any apps installed.

Re: ReadyNAS pro 6, random halt after 6.9.0

Your logs are flooded with messages about iSCSI.

How big was the LUN you created? Was it thick/thin?

Is your backup up to date?

Re: ReadyNAS pro 6, random halt after 6.9.0

LUN is 10Tb (13.6Tb total volume), it's thick and sync writes are allowed.

this is backup LUN 😉

I have no additional backup of this data.

Does the LUN that kernel.log is full of errors about exist?

Re: ReadyNAS pro 6, random halt after 6.9.0

sure 😃

IQN in kernel.log is

Apr 09 07:10:20 nas-repl2 kernel: Unable to locate Target IQN: iqn.1994-11.com.netgear:nas-repl2:01e7a1f3:group1 in Storage Node

but Target name in WebInterface is

iqn.1994-11.com.netgear:nas-repl2:843b3bce:group1

so I suppose this is different LUNs. But I have only one LUN.

Maybe check the isci initiator on the client?

done.

01e7a1f3 removed from client mapping.

843b3bce connected and is OK.

can it lead to halting the box?

It shouldn't of course, but perhaps wait to see if the halt happens again, and get a fresh set of logs if it does.
