ReadyNASRND2000

I have a the ReadyNAS Duo and can no longer "see" the device on the network. The NIC appears to be dead. I've restarted the device, connected to a different switch and have tried different ethernet cables, but get no light on the NIC. What are my options w/the data on the disks?

Thanks in advance!

Model: RND2000v2 (ReadyNAS Duo v2)|READYNAS DUO v2 (DISKLESS)|EOL

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

  1. What firmware are you running?
  2. Does the NAS say "Duo" on the front chassis?  Or does it say "Duo v2"?

You can try connecting disk 1 to a PC, and offload the data with r-linux for windows:  https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

I believe it's running 4.2.28, since that's the most recent firmware on my desktop and it's a DUO

If it's a sparc based Duo

  • it will be running 4.1.x firmware (NOT 4.2.x)
  • the front chassis will say Duo

If it's an arm based Duo

  • it will be running 5.3.x firmware
  • the front chassis will say Duo v2

If it's running 4.2.28, then it's either an Ultra-2 or a Pro-2, and not a Duo at all.

The sparc-based Duo is called a v1 here; the arm-based Duo is called a v2 here.  I suspect you have a v1 (because of the -100NAS in the part number).

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

Apologies for the confusion, it read DUO on the front chassis.

I downloaded R-Linux and attached the drive to a Windows machine, but the only things read are the basic drive properties:

Drive Type - Physical Drive

Name - ASMT 2115 0

OS Object - \\.\PhysicalDrive1

But I'm not able to see anything else...also, this is my first time using R-Linux, so I'm not sure if there are settings that need to be modified.

Thanks for the help!

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

Try again with disk 2, and see if that makes any difference.  I suggest labeling the disks - it's easy to get them mixed up.

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

This is what I see with disk2..which is similar to what I saw with disk1

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

Hi,

I'm just wondering if I have options with the data on the drives - I can't imagine the information is lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

You should be seeing more drive characteristics in your screen shots.

Did you power the drive when you connected it to the USB adapter?

Do you have another drive model you can use to test the adapter?

Re: ReadyNASRND2000

Powering the drive made the difference. I can now see the drive content in the R-Linis software, but this is my first go using R-Linux so I have to go read up on it. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks again!
