ReadyNas Duo loses network mid-transfer

Hi All,

I have two ReadyNas Duos on a home network with two Windows 7 PCs. All seems to be fine...until an Acronis Backup job running on either of the PCs fails about 4 hours into a 5-6 hour backup job.

Network is Gigabit with Netgear N300 router and a Netgear GS108 GB switch. I have Acronis backup jobs scheduled on both PCs to run during the night once per week and to keep 2 versions. One PC writes to Nas #1 and the other PC writes to Nas#2. The same problem happens to both PCs about 75% into the backup. Writes from either PC to either Nas works fine from explorer all the time. Network discovery always sees all devices on the network...until this error happens. Then, explorer cannot see the Nas that had beeb being written to by the backup job. One Nas is running 4.1.10 and the other is running 4.1.12. Radar sees them fine anytime. Both Duos have 2TB drives that are on the compatibility list. One has the 1MB memory upgrade.

Has anybody ever seen such behavior before? Any ideas? Thank you, John.

Following is the Acronis backup log that the PC emails to me:

Re: ReadyNas Duo loses network mid-transfer

I use acronis to back up to my pro, and generally haven't seen this issue. When I have seen it, the network was the problem (for instance if I did a backup over wifi).

These backups are going on at the same time? Do the symptoms change if you only run one?

Also, the destination is the NAS internal drives? Not USB?
How big are they? ~9 hours seems a long time for an image backup.

Re: ReadyNas Duo loses network mid-transfer

I've been working with mdgm on a similar issue writing to my NV +.

I'm currently seeing better results by referencing the NAS via IP, rather than by WINS or DNS name. I'm mapping a drive using the \\IP_address\share nomenclature.

In my case I'm copying files via MS SyncToy and it now seems to be working, and has been since I started the copy 12 hours ago.
