ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

Hello,

My ReadyNas Ultra 4 [X-RAID2] has warning that full disk space. I have 4 disk space and total 5.543 Gb. I have 02 share folders and checked it used only 1.83Tb.

Not sure why it says full disk space. Please help.

Best regards,

Phu

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

Did you updated the FW?

How are your snapshots?

What is your config?

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

No, I didn't updated it recently. Where can I check snapshots and which config that you need?

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

just access the management page of your device and check the health status of your device.

You should update your FW too!

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

The Ultra 4 only uses a snapshot for things like the online filesystem consistency check.

Also updating the firmware is not typically recommended when having a problem like this. Certainly not before analysing what's going on.

Hi Stephen,

FW is RAIDiator 4.2.28. Where can I check if SSH enabled or not?

Best regards,

Phu

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

That probably means you don't have it enabled.

Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

What about your LUN? How big is that?

Your data volume is about 90% full

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

I have 4 volume with 1.8 tb for each volume, but I have seen it use ~1.83 Tb only.

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

Your backup share would be the 1.83TB you were referring to earlier. Your iSCSI LUN is using over 3TB of space.

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

If you are using the default XRAID you could try upgrading two of the disks to 4 TB.  That would add 2 TB (1.8 TiB) to your space, and you'd be 67% full instead of 90%.

I always recommend backups, especially before you manipulate disks.

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

For iSCSI you'd be best to use software on the PC the initiator is running on to backup the data that's stored on the LUN.

Re: ReadyNas Ultra 4 full disk space

Thanks Stephen, Should I remove iSCSI Lun and just use all for backup share or I will keep as current and setup map to LUN to backup files on it.

Sorry, I'm not too much experience on it.

Best regards,

Phu

I am bit confused on your question.  You created the iSCSI Lun.  What are you using it for now?

Overall, your options are to either

  • expand the storage so you have more space (which is what I suggested).
  • delete files that you don't need, freeing up space.

If you don't need the LUN you should of course delete it.  If the LUN is bigger than you need, you can

  • back it up
  • create a new smaller LUN
  • restore the contents.

You can also copy the files in the LUN into one of your existing shares or a new share.  That will free up space, since the LUN itself needs free space, and that does consume NAS storage.

As mdgm says, you'll need to copy the data in the LUN using the PC that is running the iSCSI initiator (which is the only device that can access the LUN). Since the NAS volume is full, you'll need to copy it to the PC or perhaps a USB disk attached to that PC.  You don't have the space to copy it directly to the NAS.
