ReadyNas backup since rel. 6.10.2 does not work again anymore

On October 4th 2019 I instlled the latest Firmware 6.10.2 and at that moment at least one Backup did run successfully.

However:

Again after 14 days, October the 18th 2019, my ReadyNAS Backups does not work anymore again.

Every Backup that is automatically started gives the Error: "Cannot mount the device ....", although when I hit the button "Test Connection" within the Source settings of the partcular backup I get then the Info "Connected with //LT-FdG/F/My Documents"

What's is going on here, I am desporate.!

I tried Restarting the RN102 and PC : No success

I made a new Backup task, which could find:

- my Laptop "LT-FdG" successfully,

- my drive "F" successfuly,

- my documents folder "My Documents",

however after saving this Backup Task and Starting it, I get again the error:

""Cannot mount the device ....".

Please HELP!

Re: ReadyNas backup since rel. 6.10.2 does not work again anymore

Finally I solved the problem of the ReadyNAS backup with th Help of Netgear Support.

The problemat was solved as foolwos:

1. By changing the ReadyNAS Backup configuration as follows:

  • by changing the 'Hostname' from a logical Name into the real IP address

2. By solving the real problem namely Not able to use Logical names as Hostname anymore.

  • This was due to the fact that I had given the Netgear NAS an Fixed IP address which was within the range of the DHCP IP addresses. So I changed the DHCP range of IP addresses in the router into a range of free (not yet used) range of IP addresses.

Both problems were resolved.

Hello

could you please send the system log to nsbu_logs@netgear.com?

you can also  try a workaround from the website(Part 2)

As you know now, that's a mistake.

Though assigning the static address in the NAS also can lead to problems - particularly if you change your router.  A better approach is to reserve the address for the NAS in the router, and use DHCP in the NAS.  Most routers have that feature - Netgear calls it "address reservation", sometimes it's called MAC address binding/reservation, or ARP binding.
