ReadyNas will not power on - how to copy the data off drives
Hi, We have a ReadyNas RND4220-100EUS which is not powering on. There are 2x 2TB drive which a mirrored, how do we copy the data from the drives as we have tried connecting this as an external drive to a Windows system which does not allow us to access the disk although it is visible in disk management.

Try installing R-linux for Windows ( https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/ ).
The formatting on the two disks isn't identical - if you don't see the "C" volume, then try the other disk.

Re: ReadyNas will not power on - how to copy the data off drives
The problem, is likely the power supply. Another option is that an adapter cable can be made to use an ATX power supply externally to power the NAS for data recovery.

Re: ReadyNas will not power on - how to copy the data off drives
Thanks for the help, we managed to retrieve the data.
On a seperate note are you aware of any replacement parts for this NAS. As I too believe the power supply has gone and wanted to know if there is a spare part for this.
Kind Regards
Ash

Re: ReadyNas will not power on - how to copy the data off drives
Netgear has never sold spare parts for the NASes. But there are some third party options available if you look. Frankly, at the price they are asking, I wouldn't spend the money to resurrect an old, slow NV+.
A FlexATX supply can be modified to work. You have to re-wire it slightly and either remove the fan or mount the supply such that the fan isn't against the rear of the unit.
