Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

Good afternoon,

The powerline went off and my Ultra 2 rebooted in a blinking blue power light permanent status...
RAIDar doesn't see it anymore.
I have tryied the boot menu:
- the memory test seems fine.
- "OS reistall" did not changed anything.

Note that I have installed 6.2.4 (not the 4.2.27).
I am also in a RAID 0 configuration.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

Was you NAS working before using the 6.2.4 FW?
Do you have a backup of all of your data stored in the NAS?
How many drives are inside your NAS?
Did you receive any e-mail notification that a drive(s) is failing?

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it was perfectly working since several months.
I have 2x WD red 3 TB HDs in a RAID 0 config. I did a back up on external usb drive a week ago.
No email notification... the power went off the on and then later on I have found the Readynas in this situation.

MDGM was kind enough to try to telnet to my device.
His response is that I have to do a factory reset.... and this is what I am doing right now.

Thanks for the support so far, I will let you know how the Factory Reset will go.

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

Good to know you did a backup. Its because on RAID0, if one drive gets faulty, all of the data will be wiped out.

Hope the factory reset helps.

Also, if ever you want to make sure that your 2x 3TB WD Red HDDs are healthy, you may want to run a disk test using the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows: http://support.wdc.com/product/download ... =612&sid=3

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

Thanks for the reply!

I have tryied the Factory reset with no joy, therefore I have scan the disk with the WD utility.
First I have to say that one of the two disk I've originally bought for the raid had a malfunction in April 2015 and it was quickly replaced by WD.
With my surprise, it turn out that even the other original disk now is faulty so I wrote WD today and they are already shipping the replacement.

Now, what can I say... good Service Support from WD...but now I question the reliability of the 3 TB RED...
Or is the Readynas that is "cooking" the HDs?

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

Disks can and do fail at any time.

If reliability is key then enterprise disks are the way to go, but these are significantly more expensive than the WD RED.

So far I've been happy with them. I started purchasing about 3 years ago and have 11 in service in. One failure, which was replaced under warranty.

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 Blue blinking light

The WD RED are supposed to be used in 24/7 NAS conditions.
I got two of them in Jan 13.
As I wrote, the first one left me April 15 and the second one few weeks ago.
Maybe I was just unlucky.
