Readynas Ultra 2 RNDU2000 - fails to power up - how to recover

My old ReadyNas Ultra 2 with two 1 TB HDD configured with RAID 1 fails to power up.
PSU seems to be ok, but I have tested a brand new PSU as well and "no sign of life".
Nothing seems to work, the fan is not running and no led, no nothing...
I have given up the NAS as such but I want to recover my files. Tested with some software on my PC (windows) and it seems like the disks are at least on ok on "high level" - It could be seen that they are configured as RAID 1 and that there seem to be about 500 GB of data, but i cant see or fetch any files.
What are the options to recover data?
Can I buy a new Netgear NAS (not preferred), will I then be able to retrieve the data, which model(s) might be compatible?
Is there any program that I can install on my PC to read the files? (I have tried Diskinternals LinuxReader)
Would it help to install Linux? Which version in that case?

Are you running 4.2.x firmware, or did you convert the NAS to run OS 6?
If you are running OS 4.2, then here's another software package you can try: https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/

Actually that's a good thing - there are more tools to access the ext file system OS 4.2 uses than there are for the btrfs file system used in OS 6.

Re: Readynas Ultra 2 RNDU2000 - fails to power up - how to recover
THANKS Stephen!!!
I took for granted that updating to later a OS would have made it easier, hence, I did not read your comment thoroughly enough the first time.
Now, I have downloaded R-Linux 5.5 and scanned one of the HDD's. Now I can see a lot of files. probably all, and I have opened and viewed a few of them.
Next will be to store them on another disk.
You made my day, week, month... 🙂
