Remote Access / Shares
Hi again!
Didn't want to mix topics, so I started a new thread... 😄
Please don't shoot me down if I am dragging up done and dusted stuff...just want to get the whole Picture and not what some "How To's" do. I do apologise in advance if that offends anyone....
OK! I will deal up this in parts to make more sense of Everything....
Remote Access (Trying to setup as much as possible before returning the ReadyNas to the customer)
1. If I am to adminster a ReadyNas ultra 4 that is behind someone else's router - then I presume I need to setup the "Remote Access" function?
2. The user I create to access the ReadyNas remotely can be created as I like because I can then go in the ReadyNas and OK the ID/user for access?
3. What folders/directories are created automatically for this new user?
4. If I the partners in a Company want remote access - is there a way I can create all users as admin for remote access or do I need to send ndividual emails to them and they then in turn install the remote access and then they give me the ID they create, so that I can say OK or No?
Shares
On the ReadyNas you have some standard shares setup that can be removed and you can create your own...
1. If I create folders/directories for each of the partners in the Company (not public) - can I then create users that can access their specific folders/directories with password protection?
2. If that is possible - are all these folders/directories visible to all the other partners?
3. If I want to create a general folder/directory that everyone has access to - but is still password protected - then how do I do that?
General Question
Is there a way to connect the general shares I create to the individual remote users. I.E when they login remotely they see the same contents in their folder/directory?
Please say if anything is unclear.... Wouldn't be the first time....lol
If there are individual "how to's " that explain all of my questions fully - then please link to them...

Re: Remote Access / Shares
Hi guys!
OK! I have answered some of my questions myself....;)
Under "Manage ReadyNas Remote" I can add and account the user has created:
Example test@bla.bla. ReadyNAS finds this user and then I can confirm them as a user.
Because these company members usually don't sit in the same office on the same network it is a problem creating standard shares because no one but the person where the ReadyNAS stands can see the shares...BUT under "Security" I can add them with their Remote User ID info and then see what has been uploaded to the ReadyNas.
At the moment - I haven't been able to get ReadyDrop working - but will continue with that....;)
I am still running tests and any input would be appreciated....
