Replacing a drive in a ReadyNAS 104. Now now volumes!!!!!

Hello.

I have a Netgear Ready NAS104.   It has 3 x 2TB drives in bays 1,2 3.  I have a 1,5 TB in bay 4 which I want to replace with a new 2TB.

I have removed drive 4 (HOT SWAPPED) and waited for the readynas to notice that this drive was missing.   I have then installed the brand new 2TB drive.(unformated).   The unit found this drive and then started resyncing.   It started at 26% and has now been running for over 12 hours and is only at 27%.

I have accessed the web page and it lets me log in but says its offline.  I can also NOT access any files on the nas, although I can see all my folders.

I have now powered off and back on as the unit appears to be locked up....

Now rebooted.  I can still see my folderes but cannot access files.  I can now get into the web page and look at the volumes.  They are all RED.... and system states no volumes ????

Help.

Keith

Does not look good.

You may wish to contact support and consider your options for purchasing data recovery, though with what's been tried already you may have already greatly reduced the chances of data recovery.

With a RAID-5 volume when you remove a disk and replace it you are vulnerable to problems with another one of your disks till the rebuild has completed.

This is one reason why backups are important. No important data should be stored on just the one device.
