Replacing all discs in unit will not increase space RN102

Hi

I'm using RN102 i X-RAID mode.

First i had two HDD - 1TB each.

After couple years free space ends so I replaced two drives to 4TB each acting like that:

- replace first disk

- synchronization

- replace second disk

- synchronization

As i remember after that everything was ok. I had one 4TB drive operating at X-RAID (Raid 1). But then one of new 4TB discs fails... I did remove it and replace with 1TB (old one).

My RAID resynced one again and back to 1TB X-RAID.

After some time i bought new 4TB (the same model like first one - Seagate SkyHawk) and again remove 1TB to replace with new 4TB.

After synchronization i have X-RAID (RAID 1) on two 4TB discs but my capacity is still 1TB

I have no idea how to change capacity to 4TB? Defrag, cleaning, balancing doesnt work.

Any idea?

Hi cezarysz,

The destination should be a share folder not the /data. You may check this link for reference as well on how to backup data from USB to NAS.

XRAID won't shrink the file system, so I am thinking that you must have done a factory reset (or deleted/recreated the volume) at this point.

The only other possibility I can think of is that the volume never expanded to 4 TB.

Generally speaking, you can't replace a disk with a smaller one.  You need to replace it with the same size, or a bigger one.

Try rebooting the NAS.  Normally that will trigger the vertical expansion to 4 TB.

I tryed to reboot and power down NAS before. It doesn't work.

How to create new volume and not to lose all the data?

Make a backup, and restore the data to the new volume from the backup.

RAID isn't enough to keep your data safe, so you should have a backup plan in place anyway.

Can you post a screen shot of your volume page?
