Restore my original ReadyNAS configuration
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ that I bought originally with 4x250GB.
After I was running out of space, I made a backup on an external 1TB USB drive and upgraded with 4x2TB Seagate Barracuda and restore my backup on my new configuration.
Recently, I have lost some files on my new 4x2TB that are on my old 4x250GB that I have saved.
Would it be possible to put back my old 4x250GB and get my data back from there?
The other problem is that I haven’t numbered the my old 4x250GB drives when I removed them… is there a way to find out at this point in which order were they?...
Also, I have upgraded my ReadyNAS firmware recently to the latest version
…And yes, of course, my small external 1TB USB drive that I used for my original backup is long gone….
Thank you for you help and suggestions 🙂

Re: Restore my original ReadyNAS configuration
Yes it is possible. If the firmware you were running wasn't too old then the order shouldn't matter but it is best to keep the order the same.

Re: Restore my original ReadyNAS configuration
Thank you so much for the quick response.
So, what you are saying is that I don't have to do anything else but remove my 4x2TB drives and replace them with my old old 4x250GB drives, reboot the ReadyNAS and I should get my old 1TB data back?.... right?...
I have nothing to reconfigure on my readyNAS? no reset, nothing?.....
if that the case that would be great!... 🙂

Correct. Just make sure the NAS is powered down when you swap disks.
The NAS likely will try to upgrade the firmware on the disks (if the new drives are using newer firmware). Generally that's not a problem.
