Root's usage

I've seen several posts about this already. But some steps I can't do. As far as I can tell SSH is enabled. However i can't log in with root (using either my admin password or actually "password". I've tried uploading a public key but then i get a blank small pop-up only saying 'error'. this upload i tried with 3 browsers.

Re: Root's usage

Your data might be at risk, so I'd suggest doing a backup before anything else.

One option is to contact paid support (my.netgear.com).

You could also attempt an OS reinstall, followed by resetting the NAS admin password.  Then see if ssh works.  If the OS is completely full, the OS reinstall might fail.

Re: Root's usage

As far as i know the NAS is currently only used to back-up Google Drive.

How would the data be at risk though?

Re: Root's usage

Something's wrong with the OS partition on the disks, and we don't know how that happened.

The underlying cause of the failure could be disk-related or chassis-related.  Either way, the data is at risk.
