Sandy killed my ReadyNAS, can't power on

Hello!

Last night in preparation of the storm, I gracefully shut down my ReadyNAS NV (yes it's old!), which was fortunate since we lost power shortly afterward.

Now, power is back, but I can't power on my ReadyNAS! No blue light, no fan activity, nothing. Help!

I looked in the FAQ and tried to reset the Timer, twice, per this link:

Since my ReadyNAS is so old, I'm wondering if my power supply has died now, which seems to happen, per this link?:

Assuming this is correct, I found a replacement power supply unit on Amazon for $105.24:

Could use a sanity check here, is getting a replacement power supply the way to go? Is the one I found on Amazon the right one?

But I would hate to spend $105 and my issue be something else, so now I'm wondering if I should skip the power supply and just get a new chassis which is $350? But then, will my data be intact going from NV to NV+, different versions of firmware etc?

Hope you and your family are O.K.

If the issue isn't related to the power timer then it's probably the PSU.

Is your serial number in this range?: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10259

If so, you should qualify for a replacement PSU. Contact support

Do you notice a burning smell? If you remove the PSU (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/hardware/how_do_i_replace_the_stock_power_supply_on_the_readynas_nv) does it look damaged?

You cannot migrate to a NV+ v2 (RND4000-200 - charcoal chassis). You can migrate to a NV+ (v1 - silver chassis). See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another

Another alternative (really a last resort) is to recover data using a Linux machine: Mounting Sparc-based ReadyNAS Drives in x86-based Linux

Thanks for the quick response! We are all well, cept for the ReadyNAS, which in the larger scheme of things isn't that bad!

My NV is outside the range, but I will get a replacement PSU and see if that works. Thanks again!

I got the replacement power supply, and looks like I'm back in business. You don't know how happy I was to see that blue light! Thanks again!
