Setgid with NFS for share
I have a small network (5 machines - 3 macs, a PC and a RedHat Linix box) and use NFS, currently hosted by the Linux server. I've begun moving some of the data to NFS shares on a new ReadyNAS NV.
I've matched up the uid/gids for users on the NV with those on the clients.
Within the /media share, I'd like all files created to be automatically group r+w and all dirs to be group rwx - and have the group be a group common to all users.
Typically, i'd ssh to the machine hosting the nfs share and recursively setgid all directories to the shared group.
How can I accomplish this with the NV?
I'm not sure how to set /media to setgid and effectively have the umask be rw for files, rwx with setgid for dirs.

The Advanced Options tab has checkbox labelled "Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings." This is a chmod and chown.nika wrote:

You will need to do this on the client side.- I have the similar question and cannot find how to do it in Frontview. My case is CIFS. Do you have this feature by now? I think it is a pretty common case. Users of a single shares wanted to share rw permissions with each other. I assume I could do it via root ssh access. But I wanted to know if it is an "official" way.
- To use the setgid bit, either you do this via SSH or enable root privileges for the share, mount via NFS and then (as root) set the permissions via your client.
