Please can you help!
My ReadyNas no longer allows me access to my shares,(all my files!) Im getting the following from the logs:
Jan 6 19:01:27 NAS RAIDiator: The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. Typically, this occurs when the ReadyNAS is unable to access the data volume.\n\nEmma_Photo\nreadydrop\nMACFolder\nMusic\nvault\nmedia\nMACuseful_Info\nPhotos\nbackup\n\n
I Can
- Fully Access the web interface of the NAS (using RAIDar)
- I can see all of my share folders under the "Shares" TAB
- See to access them from the web interface , and nothing happens
- I can see the "Share" folders on my Windows (NW Locations) and my MAC (Finder), I believe therefore I have no nw access issues
- When I try to see the contents of my share folders (the files I need) I get "Not accessible , The NW name cannot be found" on both MAC and PC
I Have
- Run the OS Reinstall
- Memory Test
- Rebooted (several times)
The unit has 4x 3TB drives, aprox 57% used, In DEC there were growing disk errors on disk 3 , this was replaced Jan 5th. I ran seatools on the old disk 3 to look for errors, however none found.
I dont have a backup of my data, (I know, silly thing not too) is there any way to access these files?, I have spare HDD's I just need access to the folders on the NAS to offload them, and then rebuild the NAS from Scratch at that stage.?

Looks like you've encountered a multiple disk failure condition. If your backup is up to date you could open a support case and ask about data recovery.

Doesnt look like a disk failure to be honest, One Disk with some errors, granted, but all 4 are showing as

Problems with disks like with that one that breaks the RAID can be enough to cause issues. A disk doesn't have to fail completely. The disk model you are using is now known to have very high failure rates.
If you don't wish to pay for a data recovery attempt an alternative would be to restore from backup.

Fantastic....kinda defeats the purpose of having the NAS in the first place though if it cant handle a disk failure, and these disks are on Netgears "recommended" list!,
Anyhow! to solve my issue, ive no problem paying for data recovery(depending on €) I dont really have a choice as ive no complete backup ,thanks for the sugestion, how do I go about this?, I attempted to raise a case yesterday online but I think my NAS is EOL, can you guide me as to where to go?

But there have been problems with multiple disks not just one.
RAID-5 only protects against a single disk failure, not problems with multiple disks.
Data recovery attempts may be unsuccessful and cost quite a bit.
I have asked for support to pitch data recovery to you.

OK got ya, I did replace disk 3 with a new disk , so possibly I should have replaced both 2 and 3?, I have a support case open 27903562 and have asked about data recovery, will see what comes back.

You'd filled in the Contact Us page but hadn't taken the next step to turn it into a case. I did a manual override to do so this once.
