Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
HI,
Last Night i wanted to watch a movie from my readyNas on my Samsung Smart Tv and it told me there were no movie files on the server, yet in my TV shows folder it showed all of those no problems., Now it keeps saying it cant connect and goes back to main menu.
I have been watching without any issues for the last 12 months, and now suddenly it decides it doesn't want to play anymore.
I have been looking at getting a better Model, but since i can still watch using the Plex App on my Xbox one, i am wondering if it may be a TV issue rather than the NAS unit?
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
Maybe try enabling ReadyDLNA on the share, and see if the Smart TV sees that.
Does your Samsung have a plex app? Or are you using the built-in DLNA client?

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
The Tv SEE's the Readyshare as it is showiing as a Readyshare Icon in the Input menu, but when i try to connect to it i get a message saying the action cannot be performed at this time. that was after i restarted the NAS unit. Before that it logged into the unit, saw the MOVIES folder and TV Shows folder, i could watch the TV shows, but when i went into movies folder to select one to watch it said there were no video files in the folder. yet Plex can see it and watch it ( using my Xbox One) i dont like the plex app on the tv as it is very slow compared to the xbox app.
I have tried updating them both on NAS and TV but still very slow

ReadySHARE icon? I was thinking the ReadyDLNA server on the NAS (which would need to be enabled for each share).
Did you also double-check the plex server settings, and see that the plex dlna server is enabled?

Does anything change if you disable the option, but keep ReadyDLNA enabled?

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
Both Plex and Allshare are showing up in the TV (both DLNA, and I am thinking both are originating from the NAS).
If you turn DLNA off in plex, you should still see AllShare. I'm wondering if that changes the behavior.

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
You might want to try a manual rescan of the ReadyDLNA database next. Another thing you can try is to reset the share permissions for the share holding the movies.

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
Hi. Was this resolved? I am having same problem on my Samsung TV (and a similar problem with music on my Cambridge Audio music streamer). All was working until around November.

Hi brentm,
Welcome to the community.
May I ask what model as well as firmware version of ReadyNAS are you using?

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
Perhaps double-check that DLNA is enabled in the media shares, and then do a manual scan from system->settings.

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
Hi StephenB
Thanks. I've just checked and DLNA was selected. I've also rescanned. Still not working . I noticed however that I could see my pictures but still no video or music.

Re: Smart Tv has stopped playing movies from my ReadyNas
Did anything change on the NAS or your home network generally around the time it stopped working?
One other possibility is that some media file has an issue that is causing the media scanner to crash. That would explain why you see photos but nothing else. You could try turning DLNA off on all shares, and then creating a test share, copying a few music and video files that you know worked before. Then enable DLNA on just that test share, and scan again. Let us know if files will stream from the test share.
