[Solved]Problem with Wake On Lan and Scheduled power on/of
Hi,
Actually I've got a readyNas 104 with three harddrive (2to + 2to 3to).
My problem is when I activate the schedule power on/off the readynas didn't power off.
It is still on.
And the second problem is that when I schedule the nas to power on an then off (this time it power off), I must use the power button to turn it on.
The Wake on lan feature seems to not working ...
Can you help me please ?
Thank you.

What WoL application are you using to send the Wake-on-Lan Magic Packet?

Re: Problem with Wake On Lan and Scheduled power on/of
I think you might be confused on what Wake-on-Lan actually is. It does not automatically wake your NAS when windows explorer tries to browse to it. Devices that support WoL will turn themselves on when they receive a special packet called a "magic packet". Windows doesn't send that packet, you need a small utility that does.
If you google "wake on lan" clients windows you will find several free clients. I don't have any particular one to recommend. You will need to know your ReadyNAS MAC Address. That is the top line on the "network" tab of the administrator UI.

Ok, thanks for your help !
I will try with a software.
I think that windows explorer should be able to send the magic packet ...
Can you help me with my problem about Schedule power on/off ?

Re: Problem with Wake On Lan and Scheduled power on/of
What times are you setting for the NAS to power on and off on each day?
Can you post a screenshot of your power timer settings?
What happens when the time reaches your set power off time?
What firmware are you running?

Re: Problem with Wake On Lan and Scheduled power on/of
I have no times set actually.
On the scheduler there is two periods when the nas should be off : night and day.
The only thing I can do is to set a period when the nas is on.
But I just want my nas to be off all the time except when I need it. In that case I will power it on with the Wake on lan.
Maybe I should set at least a little period on on the week ?

Re: Problem with Wake On Lan and Scheduled power on/of
You have to set some times for the scheduled power on and off to work.
There is no way to just set a power off time. This is a feature that was present in OS4 and will hopefully return in a more versatile power timer in OS 6.2

Ok, thank you for your help.
You just made my day !
I will set just one hour on and everything will be good.
Hope that the 6.2 firmware will be soon available !

Re: Problem with Wake On Lan and Scheduled power on/of
The only problem with setting just 1 hour on is that if you're not using the NAS it will power on for 1 hour.
You could perhaps use this hour to do automated backups?
I did say hopefully the power timer will be improved, it may not be of course.
As far as WOL goes, I use this:
http://wol.aquilatech.com on a windows PC, and the Fing app on my ipad.
