Re: TV's that connect to the Readnas?
Look for a TV that supports DLNA or can playback from samba/cifs shares.
Sounds like you need a new TV but if you're happy with your current TV getting a player to connect to an existing TV can be a better option. Some people may find they already have a device connected to their TV that can playback from their NAS.

Re: TV's that connect to the Readnas?
I have an xbox that does a good job on my main tv... but this will be a second tv and I dont have another device to hook up to it. and dont feel like buying another xbox to do it. 🙂 I figure I'd just get a tv that had it built in.

A lot of folks find DLNA to be frustrating (both to get working and to use). So getting an inexpensive player (such as WD Live) that supports CIFS might be another option.

Re: TV's that connect to the Readnas?
I have a new Samsung Smart Tv 32 inch which I have connected to the ReadyNas via DLNA.
Only issue (& why I'm searching the forum...) is that I also have XBMC nfo files in with my videos & the Samsung is displaying the titles from the nfo & sorting the view by that value. i.e. instead of the filename S01E01 - Pilot, its reading the title field from the nfo & then alphabetically sorting by that which means the episodes are not in episode order.
Its odd that even though I set the readynas to filter to just movies, somehow the nfo's are also available to the samsung......
BTW most movies play fine, even a 1080p mkv (12.2GB) via cat5

Re: TV's that connect to the Readnas?
Are you certain that the title field is coming from the nfo? The only way that can happen is if ReadyDLNA (or plex) is pulling the title out of there (the samsung doesn't see the files directly, it's list comes from the DLNA server in the NAS).
Media files (including AVI, and certainly MKV and MP4) can include internal tags, so the title could be coming from there.
100 mbit ethernet is plenty fast enough for media playback, since even BluRay is limited to about 40-50 mbits/sec. Though if you have a mixed gigabit/100 mbit network, you often need 802.3x flow control.

Re: TV's that connect to the Readnas?
Yep certain title is coming from nfo file, if I delete the nfo file & get Readynas to rescan, those same files appear as the filename & not the title name.
